She's TWO {We Love You P}

Below are some pictures from P's two-year portraits that I took here in Avon. I know one day she will be a big girl and will no longer need mommy or daddy to hold her and turn to, which is why we are making a conscience effort to enjoy everything, tantrums and all, right now.

Some fun facts about P:

We love the way she says PJs
She tell us she loves us out of the middle of no where
Her hugs are so strong and sweet
One day she told me that she was proud of me and that I was a good girl
She is so sweet to our dog Echo, but sometimes we have to tell her that her hugs may be too much for him
She can sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, ABCs and count to twenty
She has these black patent-leather shoes that she insists upon wearing
She knows that a stop sign is an octagon
She loves to snuggle with us before she goes to bed each night
She loves to be rocked to sleep, but she calls it "Rocky"
When we ask her to show us how old she is going to be on her birthday, she asks for our help to show us two fingers, and says Twos versus Two.
We love the way she says "Oh" and "Ok" when responding to a question or a statement that we say.
When she wants us to hold her, she says, "Pick up"

Five Years {I Love You}

Five years ago today I married my husband. It has been an amazing journey for us. I can say that I have definitely grown as a person since that day. I look back at my wedding pictures and wonder why I focused so much on little details that didn't matter. It was a beautiful wedding, but after shooting weddings as a photographer, I found that people, myself included, lose site of the most important part of the day.

All I can say is that I am thankful to be married to a man who always has my back and still makes me laugh today. I wouldn't know what to do without him, and I will always be grateful for the precious daughter we have created together. I love you Chris.

I recently had the joy of going to see my cousin to celebrate her 30th birthday party in Chicago. I was having a hard time coming up with something to give her for her birthday. One day she sent me a text message asking me to take pictures of her and her daughter. In a nutshell, my cousin is an amazing graphic designer and artist, and I felt honored that she would even want me to take her picture! Happy Birthday Megan! Miss Personality {It's a Girl}

Two years ago today, Chris and I found out that we were having a baby girl. I'll never forget sitting in the parking garage of Fairview Hospital right before our sonogram appointment, and I asked Chris what his final prediction was. He of course said boy and I said girl. The whole time I was pregnant up until that point, I thought I was having a boy. However, I had two dreams throughout my pregnancy about the baby, and each time it was a girl.

That baby is now a little girl with one heck of a personality coming to life. We love you P Lily!

The Feast {Little Italy}

P, Chris and I tagged along with our good friends Maggie, Joe and their son Nico to The Feast in Little Italy. Talk about some good food and a good time.

I'm mad I didn't take note of where each dish that I took a picture of was from, but with an 18-month-old in tow, it was a miracle I was able to get the pictures in the first place.

Gnocchi

I had two pieces of pizza from two different places. At first I was bummed I didn't take a picture of a certain piece of pizza from a so-called, world-famous pizzaria that will remain nameless, but it wasn't as good as this piece.

I felt like Julia Roberts in "Eay. Pray. Love."

Cavatelli

P was enjoying all the different types of pasta and pizza as well. See the sauce on her chin and cheek?

Had to wash it down with a fresh-squeezed lemonade.

"Mama! Up peez!" I see this look and hear these words several times a day. I love her so much.

Our make-shift timeout. Again, she couldn't push the stroller, and one thing led to another and she was sitting on the stoop laughing at us for putting her there in the first place. Oh the joys of parenting.

After we calmed down, we got to eat some awesome homemade Gelato, and it was so good.

Of course I shared with P. She loved it!

Hoops and Flowers {Thorton Lane}

Our neighbor's Mark and Michelle purchased a basketball hoop a while ago to put at the end of the street. These are pictures of most of the neighbor kids on one of many random nights on Thorton Lane.

I tried to get a picture of P and Echo. This was the best one.

Then she wanted to hug him! He's such a good doggie brother.

She would actually look at me and smile for the camera without me asking twice. A photographers dream! :D

When we got back from vacation, my mom came in from Texas to see us! Although P was getting over a stomach bug she got while she was on vacation, we had a great time hanging out with my mom. Chris and I even got to go on a date for my birthday, and we didn't have to pay for a babysitter! Thanks Mom!

P was very interested in watching/helping Drama put her makeup on.

I snapped a quick shot of her on the guest room bed. I love the lighting in this room.

To all moms out there, I challenge you to be in more pictures with your children. As a photographer, I am always behind the camera, and that is where I am most comfortable. However, after reading a post by Ashley Ann Photography, I realized that my daughter will not care what I was wearing and if I had make up on when she is looking at family photos twenty years from now. For me it's hard to put the camera down and on self timer, but I understand how important it is for my family to actually see that I was involved.

Chris, P and I drove to Chicago for a quick trip to visit family. My aunt was having a big birthday party and my parents, aunt and uncle and some of my cousins were there to celebrate. The trip is only five hours for us, which isn't too bad, but it is a stretch to do in less than 24 hours. Here are some pictures of the family hanging out before the party. Most of the pictures are of P and her second cousin Evie. They are a month apart almost to the day.

We had a very quiet easter. P got her first easter basket and went on her first egg hunt at home. Due to the rain, which it always seems to be raining this time of year, we had the hunt inside. Chris finished painting. Plus, I was able to plant some hydrangeas, which are my favorite type of flowers. When the rain subsided, I took P out to take a couple quick pictures.

Today my daughter turns one! You hear everyone say it, but time really does fly by you when you have little ones. What an amazing journey this year has been for us.

9.26.09 Margo & Joe

Margo and Joe's wedding is a special wedding for me. Originally I am from Texas, and since I now live in Ohio, Margo and Joe are like our extended family here. I will probably revisit this post, because I am just now getting the chance to edit their wedding, and I am sure there are several pictures that I will want to share.

A quick recap of their wedding weekend: Friday night, myhusband Chris and I were invited to attend the rehearsal dinner at a restaurant in Little Italy. The family style servings at this place were to die for, and I felt that the food just didn't stop coming. As my husband and Joe would joke, Italians are always saying, "Eat. Eat. Eat!" Therefore, we ate. Saturday, the ceremony and reception were held at Maggiano's in Beachwood. Again, the food was amazing and the atmosphere elegant. Although it rained for most of the day, we were able to catch a break between the ceremony and reception and take some pictures in Voinovich Park in downtown Cleveland. You may be wondering why there is a dog picture in this post, and that would be Margo and Joe's dog Sophie Bella, who was present at the reception in spirit and through these pictures, which helped guests find their table. I wish I could take the credit for the idea, but that was all Margo. Overall, it was a beautiful night, and I am thankful that Chris and myself were able to be apart of their special day. We love you guys!

I shot Danielle and Phil's wedding last weekend. However, I felt as though I was a guest. Danielle and Phil are a true and genuine couple. They took care of everyone and every detail imaginable.

I arrived early, as usual, at the hotel where Phil was getting ready. With an untucked shirt and walking through the hallway, he arrived late. Ten minutes later I was knocking on the door to start the day. They both enjoy the detail shots that I capture, therefore, I started with the details. Thirty minutes later I was on my way to meet up with Danielle and the rest of her family. The group was lively and fun. We even had a moment to step outside and attempt a game of Croquet. Since I know nothing about the game, they were generous in explaining the details. None the less, the Croquet was a great photo opp.

Afterward, we headed to the ceremony/reception site. The location had Danielle and Phil written all over it. From the orange hearts on the marquee between their names to the beautifully hand made art piece that adorned the top of their cake, it was beautiful. My favorite piece from the reception site was a wire mannequin with orange ornaments displaying pictures of family members on their wedding day.

Babies

Maybe it is because I am surround by so many babies these days that I have had the urge to take their pictures. Here are some of my recent baby portraits of a beautiful little friend of mine. With permission from mom and dad, I am able to post some.

On a side note, I just recently heard that my husband's sister is pregnant and is due 9.9.09! That's easy to remember. We are so happy for them, and of course, I cannot wait to take pictures of my future niece or nephew.

Also, coming this May is my brother's second child. His little son Hendrix will have a lil' sis to play with very soon. I wish I was in Texas to take their pictures all of the time.

Babies. Babies. Babies. They are all around. How fun.

HOUSE OF BLUES WEDDING

I know. I know. It has been a bit since my last post, but things get crazy and I still need time to edit.

As promised, here are some pictures from Melissa & David Dickey's 2.7.2009 wedding at the House of Blues in downtown Cleveland. Melissa & David are a fun couple. They gave me the opportunity to shoot a "nontraditional" wedding, and I loved every moment of it. So, thank you Melissa & David.

In addition, I had the pleasure of working with my best photographer friend Terry Goodman. What an amazing woman. She is rather talented and helped out a great deal with the Dickey wedding.

Asta & Jacob

Last night was incredible. I shot Asta & Jacob's wedding. We started at a beautiful catholic church just east of downtown Cleveland. The night ended at the Cleveland Zoo. There were so many options and places to take pictures.

To date, one of the best weddings I have shot. I truly enjoyed myself. It felt like I was a guest with a really nice camera. The people, family and couple were wonderful and fun. Good people!

Also, I had the pleasure of working with The DJ Crew team. I worked with them before, and I would recommend them to anyone. They keep the party going, while having a good time themselves. Thanks to the Aramark employees, especially Mary, for being so hospitable.

Melissa & David

It's a school night. Why am I not in bed? Well, I have plenty hanging over my head. Plus, once I started editing my images from Melissa and David's engagement session, I couldn't stop. At the time, it was about 8 degrees outside. I could not feel my fingertips, and was a little hesitant about the outcome. However, each image I look at, I am super happy.

Melissa and David live in Colorado. We shot their engagements two days before their awesome wedding at the House of Blues downtown (pictures to be shared later). What a great couple and what a great experience. Thank you Melissa & David.

Breakfast

My husband and I rarely get to spend time together. So, today I took a little break to make breakfast with him. Actually, he made all the food except for the crunchy hash browns. Echo was loving the smells, and waiting patiently to see if we would share. However, according to Chris, the theme for our breakfast was "How much grease can one eat?" So sorry Echo, no scraps for you.

However, I had the opportunity to be the photographer for such a great couple yesterday. Janet & Chadlin were amazing. Chad is a Marine, and they will now move on to California. I wish them nothing but the best.
